The CVX series (or CVT at Steyr) is extrapolated from the CS tractor series. The CVXs built between 2000 and 2003 are the CVX 120, 130, 150, 170 then the 140, 160, 175 and 195 models arrived from 2003 until 2011. The tractor is assembled in St Valentin in Austria.
The Sisu 620 6-cylinder turbo engine with 6.6 liters of displacement powers a continuously variable transmission, designed by a Steyr-ZF joint venture.
The engine-transmission relationship is managed by “APM” (automatic engine speed management), an original concept which reduces consumption for which the CVX is renowned.
The various tractor components communicate via Bus-Can networks.
It comes standard or as an option depending on the model with a suspended Carraro front axle.
As an option, the tractor receives a Zuidberg front linkage and a 1000 rpm front power take-off.
To compensate for the lack of engine braking on steep slopes with a heavy load, the tractor can receive an engine brake control acting on the exhaust.
In 2003, the number of speed ranges increased from 2 to 3.
